The Marketing Equivalent of a Junk Drawer

Every house has one... you know the drawer. It started with good intentions - a place for ONLY important items - new packs of batteries, spare keys, a flashlight. It was not a junk drawer - it was a carefully curated space of things you might need... buuuut now it's a record of every item you just weren't sure what to do with yet.

Every business has one too. It just tends to be made up of marketing tasks and ideas, not rubber bands and random legos.

It's the lead magnet you built two years ago that still references a service you don't offer anymore, the ad that's been "on" since March because nobody's looked at it since you launched it, or the email sequence that welcomes new subscribers by mentioning an event that already happened (whoops!).

None of this is a crisis. It's just accumulation - a natural result of building things faster than you review them, which - to be fair - is most of us, most of the time. But a junk drawer left alone long enough stops being a minor inconvenience and starts being a place where things go to be... well, useless.

Same with marketing.

I'm not going to tell you to go fix all of it this week. That's a great way to open the drawer, feel overwhelmed, and shove it closed again. I just want you to find it.

This Week's Clarity Cue: Go looking for your marketing junk drawer. The old lead magnet, the stale ad, the outdated sequence, the page nobody's touched since launch. Just locate it. Don't fix it yet - fixing is a project for a day you actually have the bandwidth, not a task to guilt yourself into finishing ASAP.

Reply and tell me what you found. Bonus points if it's something truly embarrassing - misery loves company, and mine currently involves 3 courses, a bunch of Canva templates, and a half-baked Google Ad campaign.

P.S.: If you find yours and want a second set of eyes on what's actually worth keeping versus what's just taking up space, that's a big part of what a Marketing Audit is for. No rush - just tucking that here for whenever it's useful.
